North Chicago man nominated for Lake County Board vacancy

A North Chicago resident who serves on local park and library district boards is set to fill a vacancy on the Lake County Board.

Vance Wyatt has been nominated by county board Chairman Aaron Lawlor to represent the 14th District. The seat opened in April when veteran county Commissioner Audrey Nixon died.

Wyatt, a 27-year-old Democrat, is president of the Foss Park District board in North Chicago. He also sits on the North Chicago Public Library District board.

Foss Park District president picked to succeed Audrey Nixon on Lake County Board

Vance Wyatt, the Foss Park District board president and board member for the North Chicago Public Library board, has been selected to fill out the term of the late Audrey Nixon on the Lake County Board, according to the board chairman.

Today, Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor announced he will appoint Vance Wyatt, Foss Park District Board President, to the County Board's 14th District left vacant by the passing of long-time Board Member Audrey Nixon. The Lake County Board will vote on the appointment at its June 13th meeting. District 14 includes portions of Gurnee, North Chicago, Park City and Waukegan.

Quarter 4 2016 Newsletter

Foss Park District picks gambling vendor that employs board member

The Foss Park District board has approved a deal that will replace the video-gambling machines at the Foss Park Golf Course in North Chicago with ones made by a company that employs its newest board member.

Retired state trooper replaces convicted commissioner on Foss Park board

North Chicago's Foss Park District commissioners picked a retired Illinois State Police trooper to replace Susan Dixon, a commissioner convicted of theft this year in connection with toys taken from a 2014 Toys for Tots campaign.

The board voted 3-1 Monday to name 52-year-old Anthony "Tony" Jones a park commissioner, a position he sought unsuccessfully in the last election.
